門倉太久斗／22世紀ジェダイによる日常を装飾するmaximalismの提案。
　下北沢アーツでは門倉太久斗／22世紀ジェダイ個展「モア・イズ・モア」]を開催いたします。門倉太久斗は埼玉県生まれ、武蔵野美術大学造形学部空間デザイン科ファッション専攻卒業。コムデギャルソンにパタンナーとして従事しながら、プリキュアをモチーフとしたネックレスを作成、「22世紀ジェダイ」としてSNSで発表し注目を集めました。独立後、「門倉太久斗」名義で発表する絵画作品では代表作に、日常を脅かす「やってくるもの」をテーマにした「理想鉢シリーズ」、新たな男性性をテーマにした「ペニスフラワーシリーズ」、制作に使ったパレットも共に作品とした「SPURシリーズ」などがあります。現代社会を俯瞰し、少しだけ先を見るような感性を言葉にし、独自の形状を持つ人や花などを卓抜した構図や色彩感覚で、可愛く優しくそして少しの毒を加えた作品に仕上げています。
　本個展はファッション業界に身を置いてきた門倉の真骨頂といえる装飾がテーマです。「Less is more.」はシンプルなデザインや少ないもので豊かに暮らすミニマリズムのポリシーとして知られる言葉です。その反対語として、「More is more.」はより多く、大きく、大胆に飾るマキシマリズムの言葉として近年提唱され始めています。
　本個展では、絵画作品と併せて花や門倉の私物も置かれ、展覧会を彩ります。自分好みに飾ることを肯定する門倉太久斗の生き様の一端をぜひご体感ください。

アーティスト・ステイトメント
　幼少期の私が手にした電池式のミニカーは、他の無数のパーツによってデコレーションされ、もはや本来持っているポテンシャルが大幅に損なわれていることはわかっていても、パーツをシンメトリーに配置することに没頭していました。周りから笑われようとも、私と世界との関係を表すにはそうすることが適切であるような気がしてならなかったのです。

　本展のタイトルの「モア・イズ・モア」は建築家ミース・ファン・デル・ローエの標語「レス・イズ・モア」（飾りを少なくすればするほど、より機能的である）の反対を意味します。

　飾り＝装飾美術はしばし「レッサー・アート」（劣位の芸術）とよばれ、時には野蛮なものとして蔑みの対象になってきました。装飾の欲望が実用を超えて愚かな私たちを苦しめるとき、矛盾で満ちているにも関わらずそこに何か美しいもの、正しいもの、自由なもの、崇高なものを見いださずにはいれないのです。

　私の絵は抽象と具象の合間を漂い、あらゆる時間と空間を超えて「装飾の意思」と共振します。敬意と軽薄さをもって全体を志すものです。

　モア・イズ・モア。過剰こそ正義。

　門倉太久斗/22世紀ジェダイは埼玉県生まれ、武蔵野美術大学造形学部空間デザイン科ファッション専攻卒業。コムデギャルソンにパタンナーとして従事しながら、愛するアニメ、プリキュアをモチーフとしたネックレスを制作、「22世紀ジェダイ」としてSNSで発表し注目を集める。独立後、「門倉太久斗」名義で発表する絵画作品では、独自の形状をした植物や人物などをモチーフに、絶妙な構図と色の組み合わせで画面いっぱいに描き、中毒的な魅力をもって鑑賞者を引きつける。代表作として、自宅の掲示板に作品を展示した「掲示板ドローイング・シリーズ」、「やってくるもの」をテーマにした「理想鉢シリーズ」、近作では、「新しい男性性やジェンダー」をテーマにした「ペニス・フラワー・シリーズ」などがある。

Shimokitazawa Arts is pleased to present the solo exhibition "More is More" by Kadokura Takuto/22nd century JEDI. Kadokura was born in Saitama Prefecture and graduated from Musashino Art University, Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Spatial Design, majoring in Fashion. While working as a patterner for Comme des Garçons, he created a necklace with the motif of his beloved anime, PreCure, and posted it on SNS as "22nd Century JEDI", attracting attention. After becoming independent, his paintings published under the name of "Kadokura Takuto " include the "Ideal Bowl Series," which has the theme of "coming things" that threaten daily life, the "Penis Flower Series," which has the theme of a new masculinity, and the "SPUR Series," which includes the palette used in the painting. He takes a bird's-eye view of modern society and puts into words his sensibilities and thoughts that look a little further into the future. He creates works that are cute, gentle, and poisonous, using his outstanding composition and sense of color to depict people and flowers with unique shapes.
The theme of this solo exhibition is decoration, which can be said to be the true essence of Kadokura, who has spent his career in the fashion industry. "Less is more" is a phrase known as the minimalism policy of living a rich life with simple design and fewer things. As an opposite, "More is more" has recently begun to be advocated as a maximalist phrase that embellishes more, bigger, and bolder items.
In this solo exhibition, with the paintings, flowers and Kadokura's personal belongings will be displayed to enhance the exhibition. We invite you to experience a glimpse of Kadokura Takuto's way of life, which embraces the idea of decorating in a way that reflects one's personal taste.

Artist statement

When I was a child, the battery-powered miniature car I owned was decorated with countless other parts, and even though I knew that its original potential was greatly diminished, I was absorbed in arranging the parts symmetrically. Even if people around me laughed at me, I felt that it was the right way to express my relationship with the world.

The title of this exhibition, "More is more," is the opposite of architect Mies van der Rohe's motto, "Less is more" （the less decoration, the more functionality）.

Decorative art is often referred to as "lesser art,'' and has sometimes been viewed with contempt as something barbaric. When our desire for decoration goes beyond practicality and torments us foolishly, we cannot help but find something beautiful, right, free, and sublime in it, despite the fact that it is full of contradictions.

My paintings drift between abstraction and representation, and resonate with the "intention of decoration" beyond all time and space. It aspires to the whole with respect and frivolity.

More is more. Excess is justice.

Kadokura Takuto / 22nc century JEDI wad born in Sitama, Japan and Graduated from Musashino Art University, Department of Spatial Design, Fashion Major. While working as a patterner for Comme des Garçons, he created a necklace with the motif of his beloved anime, PreCure, and posted it on SNS as "22nd Century Jedi", attracting attention. After becoming independent, his paintings, which he releases under the name "Kadokura Takuto," use uniquely shaped plants and people as motifs, fill the canvas with exquisite compositions and color combinations, and attract viewers with an addictive charm. His representative works include the "Bulletin Board Drawing Series," in which he displays his works on his bulletin board at home, the "Ideal Pot Series," with the theme of "coming things," and his recent works, the "Penis Flower Series," with the theme of "new masculinity and gender."
